The month of October hasn't been kind to us. We had a lot of very wet and rainy weekends, and unfortunately this means a lot of my photo sessions were cancelled and/or rescheduled. This beautiful family scheduled and rescheduled just to wake up to rain, sometimes even torrential rain, with no clearing in sight for a photo session to take place. Every available weekend in October we tried to get together, but it wasn't in the cards. Rain, rain and more rain! Finally on the last Saturday in October we made it happen!
Despite the chilly temperatures, dreary skies and random drizzle this awesome family rocked it! They had so much fun with the shoot. I bet you couldn't even tell that it was 30 some degrees and I was wearing a heavy winter coat! The boys had so much fun, running around and keeping each other warm. In every photo you can see their personalities shine through. I couldn't just pick a couple photos to share because I loved so many of them! As we took our last set of photos, snowflakes stared falling. It was such a great way to end the photo session.
You guys did amazing! Not to start quoting Disney movies, but the cold never bothered you anyways :-)
I won't lie or sugar coat the fact that we simply have no color this fall. The weather was just not favorable for fall colors this year and it's somewhat disappointing. However, we still have the light to play with. And light can cast some really pretty color. This was the case last Sunday morning. After a rainy Saturday, the sun appeared again the next morning and made for some warm and bright images of this awesome family. LIttle Jack you are growing like a weed! Not so little anymore! Mom + Dad must be really proud of you!
Photography allows me to get the opportunity to capture images of so many wonderful people, families and couples. It also gives me a chance to contribute to great causes as well. During this session I got to do both! King and Vicky are collegues of mine who participated in a charity auction for a great foundation. I donated my services, and their generous bid won them the auction.
Both families met at Gallery Park in Glenview, Illinois. One day shy of October and the weather was simply gorgeous!
It’s been a fun ride being pregnant alongside a good friend of mine. We have someone to complain to after a sleepless night full of tossing and turning and acid reflux and someone who understands why lunchtime is promptly at 11 a.m. in order to fulfill the hunger we have had since 15 minutes after eating breakfast. Can’t wait until this winter when we can share the joys of postpartum!
When Cassy told me the vision for her maternity photos, I immediately got super excited. The beach, floral crown, custom gown….yes, yes and yes! And to top it off, let’s meet at 6:30 in the morning to capture the sunrise! The drive to Evanston’s Lighthouse Beach is not a short one for either of us, but totally worth it. Watching the sun break through the horizon and rise over Lake Michigan was breathtaking! It made me realize how much I miss living near the Lake. Many others had come to enjoy the sunrise and even a quick swim that morning. And what a warm morning it was! As I type this, I am wondering if today will be the 7th consecutive day of record breaking temperatures. Low to mid 90s for our area is very unseasonable. Perhaps it was a good idea to meet this early in the morning to avoid the record breaking heat that arrived quickly after our departure.
To fit with the light and airy beach theme, Cassy chose a soft blue custom gown from Sew Trendy Accessories and a floral crown created by her florist mom, Mary. It was perfection! Chris sported the white shirt and khakis to compliment the theme and his beautiful wife.
I spent most of my time capturing images of Cassy as the sun quickly rose higher in the sky. It was challenging to keep the sun behind her and occasionally have it peek-a-boo into sight. When the sun was too high in the sky, we switched gears and headed towards the Harley Clarke Mansion and Grosse Point Lighthouse. The surroundings changed from a light-filled sandy beach, to a shaded stone facade. The vines and foliage on the property gave it a very mysterious and intriguing feel. The lighthouse itself stood so tall we could not find the top of it through the trees. Both the beach and the lighthouse/mansion properties were a hit and I hope Cassy enjoys her photographs as much as I enjoyed taking them!

Fall is by far the busiest season for most photographers. This is preciously why I haven't been blogging much these last few weeks, but I'm back! I'm back and with a super adorable family session at a totally new location. Brother and sister duo and their parents met me up at Gallery Park in Glenview. Thanks to a recommendation from a fellow photog! Thank you!
This location is super cute, especially the Little Bear Park section where we took all these shots. Splash pad one minute to playground the next! Such an active and super sweet little boy! His little sister, just as adorable. Just look at that hair! Curls for days!
This Wildcat and Nittany Lion will be tying the knot in May! If you look up the definition of adorable in the dictionary, you'll see their picture (well you should!). Even in front of the camera Andrew + Lauren were truly enjoying their time together and took every opportunity to smile, laugh and be silly. What more could you ask for as a photographer capturing all these moments behind the lens!?
We met at the Morton Arboretum in Lisle, Illinois, back to the place Andrew proposed. From wildflowers to tall spruces, this place has it all! And thankfully, Lauren's allergies remained under control while in the Spruce Lot. Any watery eyes that day might have been me, from pure cuteness overload. I lost count of how many times "you're cute" was said. So much LOVE!
Congrats Andrew + Lauren!!!
It's been nearly a decade of a great friendship with Alan and Jen! I still remember doing their engagement photos at Montrose Harbor in Chicago. One of the very first engagement shoots I have ever done. And just 9 short days ago they welcomed their second daughter into the world. Welcome Maggie Grace! Big sister Hallie is thrilled to have new playmate, sorry Hunter (dog).
We already know these fun facts about Maggie's future:
1. She will inherit the undying love for the Chicago Cubs (duh!)
2. She will make frequent visits to the firehouse
3. She will be compassionate, nurturing and kind
4. She will lookup to her older sister and have a best friend for life
5. She will look just like her momma! (sorry Alan, I see more Jen)
Remember, when a new baby comes along, your love doesn't get divided, it multiplies. Congratulations!
It feels like just yesterday when I was shooting Aarav's newborn photos, and now his little sister Ananya just turned ONE! I say this all the time, but time sure does fly. We strolled around the Naperville Riverwalk on a gorgeous day and captured some family photos along with a mini cake smash for the birthday girl! Big brother Aarav was so much fun to shoot as he challenged me with so many different faces, never knew which one I was going to get. But just looks at the photo with his sister! Happiest little boy in the world. So much sibling love!
Happy Birthday Ananya!
I must say, this was a first for me. I've done weddings at golf courses and country clubs, but never a family session. And you know what, I LOVED IT! It wasn't smooth sailing right off the bat as we had to reschedule due to inclement weather, though the 2nd time was the charm! Rolling Green is a 105-acre, private country club founded in 1924! The property is simply spectacular, so much to offer! It was the perfect backdrop for this special photo session.
Howard + Barbara have been blessed with five beautiful grandchildren. I was happy to capture photographs that they can treasure forever. Make sure to remember that what children need most are the essentials that grandparents provide in abundance. They give unconditional love, kindness, patience, humor, comfort, lessons in life. And, most importantly, cookies!
