Two more beauties on the blog today! Hallie and Maggie, my golden haired princesses! Maggie just turned one and let me tell you about this girl. She took her first steps at 8 months! She was born to be on the move, and my endless photos of the backside of her pink tutu proves my point. She was running and exploring the whole time. Perhaps this just means she is destined to travel and seek adventure, and so it awaits! Sweet older sister Hallie loved to pose and be my model for testing light. Just look at the photos and her endless poses. Super adorable.
I can't end this blog entry without mentioning their mom and dad who just celebrated their 7th wedding anniversary. We had to snap some photos of just the two of them to celebrate. We have been friends for about a decade and I hope there will be many more decades to come.
Golden hour, when everything is touched by magic! Golden hour requests are now the norm, and that's the way it should be! Though isolated rainstorms, flooded streets, and an ungodly amount of people at the park made photos at Cantigny questionable that evening. Don't fret, we made it happen!
This is my 5th shoot with this wonderful and loving family (yes, 5th shoot! This makes me so happy!). From maternity photos in the city, when it was just the two of them, to a beautiful family of four! Thank you so much for letting me capture every milestone of your growing family. And happy 10th wedding anniversary! I wouldn't let you get away without taking some photos of just the two of you. Don't forget where this all started, when two people fell in love. Congratulations and many happy years to come. You were blessed with two adorable children, and there's no better gift than that.
I don't do many of these cake smashes, but when I do the photos are so super cute and many times will make you giggle. Can you shove cake in your mouth and then proceed to gracefully place your face in it...in public? Yea, didn't think so. Kids. That's what makes them so great. Even big sis got in on the action! C'mon who doesn't like cake? Right, Helen? or was it ice cream?
Happy birthday to Juliana! May you grow and move mountains, baby girl!
Look familiar? Maybe it is because of this post back from 2015? Konrad's baby brother recreating his 6-month photos! So alike and so different at the same time. Much more hair, a little beefier (LOL!) and a whole lot of fun! How things change with your second child. For Konrad's 6-month photos, I remember planning the outfit and location and even had bubbles on standby to add some creative drama to the photos. We were at the park for a good amount of time trying to capture the perfect photo. With our Henry boy, we went in the back yard and shot photos for about 5 minutes while his older brother danced around me trying to make him laugh. Yup, and we were done. About 10 minutes later, Henry was fast asleep.
Henry you are growing so fast. Half of your first year already behind you and so many more to go! Love you, bud!

Riverview Farmstead Preserve | Naperville, Illinois | Family Photography | Clancy Family | August 5, 2018
Riverview Farmstead!!!! A fellow photographer told me about this place and I thought I would give it a shot (pun intended!). I am so happy that I did. This place is the cutest little farmstead with so many backdrops and variety to offer. I had to really contain myself. The excitement was real! And thank you to this adorable family for letting me pick this location. It was simply perfect for them. We could have done without the 90+ degree heat and the wind gusts (oh, heavens the flyaways...) but aside from that, this was perfection.
Ava, Emma and Declan were so awesome! The sisters were truly two distinct flowers from the same garden. I heard this quote somewhere and thought it was so fitting for these two little girls...surrounded by wildflowers, wearing flowers and with flowers in their hair (check out Mad for Bows on facebook! Shout out for making these awesome bows! Thank you!)
Brother Declan is such a stud muffin. Walking around the preserve, with his hands in his pockets like he owns the place. LOVED it! Though he is the little brother, I'm sure he will protect his sisters no matter what.
And please, if anyone in the Naperville/Plainfield area is interested in a shoot there, please let me know! It's awesome!
Yes, the yellow couch again! Everyone wants a session at Cantigny and I don't blame them. The place was crawling with photographers that Sunday evening, but what a beautiful evening it was. Since it was photos of his Auntie, Uncle and cousins, I brought my little assistant with me, my son Konrad. Can't say he was much help, just scroll down to the last photo to see one of the outakes of the cousins playing and just being kids. Super cute!
Wedding day is soon approaching for Nick and Ashley and we needed to snap some engagement photos before the big day. This was really a family engagement session, because these two kids are their world. Like I said before...welcome to the family Ashley, though you were really already family from day one. Congratulations! Can't wait to celebrate this September!
Cousins! My assistant slacking on the job....smh. LOL!
This potential Fourth of July baby arrived a bit early, but that's just because she couldn't wait to meet her big brother Chase, doggy Bentley and of course her two loving parents.
I've got to say this was one of the most content babies I ever had the pleasure working with. She pretty much slept for the entire session. She was so comfy cozy, I was almost afraid to move her, though nothing seemed to aggravate this little firecracker. I was able to capture a lot of lifestyle photos with brother and sister and the family just enjoying each other and the company of their newest, sweetest pink and rosey addition. Notice that big rose bow and tutu! How freakin' cute is that! Congratulations Amber and Kamil on your two beautiful children. You are truley blessed!
Hero Coffee | Chicago Art Institute Gardens | Chicago, Illinois | Maternity Photography | Colleen & Ryan | July 1, 2018
It was almost as if this place only existed on Instagram. The cutest little coffee shop, tucked away between two very tall buildings in downtown Chicago. Such a gem of a find! Well it does exist! And I gotta tell ya, the coffee is super good! While waiting for this beautiful momma-to-be (and her beau) I noticed that almost every passerby stopped to check out this place. Just to snap a photo, and presumably post it on Instagram. So if you find the back of my head in any Hero Coffee hash-tagged photos, it would make perfect sense.
Now back to my sister-in-law. Yup she's family and she's gorgeous. So jealous of her hair (did I say that out loud?). With her hubby being such a handsome guy, this baby should be looking for modelling contacts now! Gerber, GAP, please take note!
Colleen and Ryan can't take a bad photo. Honestly, so adorable shot after shot. Even the couple rain showers and off and on drizzle didn't deter us from capturing these great photos! We even headed over to the Art Institute gardens for some change in scenery. Once again, shot after shot was perfection. Love these two!
Congratulations Colleen and Ryan. Can't wait to meet Baby G next month!
Colleen checking for rain?
This dance sensational duo is so much fun. Not only did I get a lesson in "flossing" I also had the pleasure to watch these two do a dance routine. It took a good two days to get "Hair Up" from the movie Trolls out of my head.
Naperville Riverwalk on a hot and muggy day wasn't exactly ideal, but we made it work. We hung out in the shade as much as possible and took hydration breaks. Violet and Alice are super adorable and I was thrilled to be spending that morning with them. Scroll all the way down for VIDEO! Disclaimer: I'm not a videographer :-)
Thought I'd switch over to video to catch part of their routine.....HAIR UP!
Prairie Center for the Arts | Schaumburg, Illinois | Family Photography | Noga Family | June 23, 2018
When I returned to photography this year, I basically needed to reintroduce myself to potential clients. A little ol' app on my phone was just the way. It connects you with your neighbors! This is exactly how I met the Noga family. Three beautiful girls, with totally different personalities! That is what made this photo session so fun...and the bubbles too! Hope we run into each other again!
Welcome to this crazy world Oliver James! You don't know it yet, but you will love Marvel Comics, hockey and soccer. Your dad already has all of his FIFA World Cup predictions in, I saw them on facebook. And your mom is super crafty so you will probably inherit that creative gene of hers as well.
New parents Megan and Ryan welcomed little Oliver on June 1st! If these proud parents look familiar, perhaps you've see their engagement photos on my blog! I'm thrilled that I get to continue to photograph their little thing called life. Let's scroll down to that last photo of this post. I've said this before, but Oliver already has super powers. He will make you fall in love with him instantly.
Mini Sessions and More | Citizen's Park | Klehm Arboretum| Barrington, Illinois | Rockford, Illinois
I started off the season with some mini sessions at Citizen's Park in Barrington. I had four beautiful families that jumped right in, made the drive and got up early to make these happen. Below are some of my favorites from that day. Here's to a another great photography season! I'm back to doing a couple weddings as well. Looking forward to sharing the wonderful stories I capture with all of you.
Oh and my baby brother is getting married! They have picked an awesome photographer to capture their day and I can't wait for October! We recentely visted their wedding venue, Klehm Arboretum in Rockford, IL, Hey, let's practice taking photos because "when in Rome..." Congrats to them!
Yes, I know I have been MIA pretty much since the fall. Understandably so, winter is a slow time for us photographers, but on top of that this little peanut has been keeping me busy. Henry made his way into the world 2 days early: SURPRISE! I was sent to the hospital for observation and had every intention of going home the same day...still pregnant. Not this fella. He wanted out the same day. Within a few hours of arriving at the hospital, Henry was born. 100% healthy, and 100% boy (I had to add that in since the initial prediction from our ultrasound tech was a GIRL! Oh BOY, gotcha!). Mommy, Daddy and Big Brother K can't be happier of our little family of 4.
I will be posting a milestone series of this munchkin as I did with his older brother. Hopefully we can get some good sibling shots in there. I am now really understanding the frustration of parents trying to capture the perfectly posed photo of their 2+ children. Where's the easy button!? It's so different when your'e photographing your own kids. Challenge accepted. Stay tuned!
The month of October hasn't been kind to us. We had a lot of very wet and rainy weekends, and unfortunately this means a lot of my photo sessions were cancelled and/or rescheduled. This beautiful family scheduled and rescheduled just to wake up to rain, sometimes even torrential rain, with no clearing in sight for a photo session to take place. Every available weekend in October we tried to get together, but it wasn't in the cards. Rain, rain and more rain! Finally on the last Saturday in October we made it happen!
Despite the chilly temperatures, dreary skies and random drizzle this awesome family rocked it! They had so much fun with the shoot. I bet you couldn't even tell that it was 30 some degrees and I was wearing a heavy winter coat! The boys had so much fun, running around and keeping each other warm. In every photo you can see their personalities shine through. I couldn't just pick a couple photos to share because I loved so many of them! As we took our last set of photos, snowflakes stared falling. It was such a great way to end the photo session.
You guys did amazing! Not to start quoting Disney movies, but the cold never bothered you anyways :-)
