30 Days Later, Feeling a Million Times Better | The Complete Wedding Photographer Experience with Jasmine Star | June 26, 2015
It felt like the series finale of Nip/Tuck. You may think I'm crazy, but that is how it felt. "It isn't suppose to end this way," I remember saying out loud as I felt my eyes welling up. It wasn't suppose to end at all, in my eyes anyways. Just then I watched everyone go their separate ways to chase after what they originally sought out to do; to put all their fears and insecurities behind them; to start a new. It was a brand new start for everyone, after years of struggling to find out who they really were, or being afraid to pursue what they really loved. Now let's apply this to photography. More specifically, wedding photography.
Today was the last day of the 30-day wedding photography boot-camp with Jasmine Star. It was a 6-week complete wedding photography experience. And yes there were tears. Tears online, tears in the studio, tears in Jasmine's eyes. Why did this last session become so overly emotional? How about that whole inspirational talk about one simple word, GRIT? Let's all be this gritty! I must caveat this with the fact that I did not cry, probably because I was preoccupied with my 8-month old during the last live broadcast. However, the feelings were there. At this point you may be asking, "who is this Jasmine chick?"Jasmine Star is a great photographer, but even a more amazing business woman. Her willingness to be so transparent about her business gave other photographers the confidence to build the business and the life that they want. So many words of inspiration, courage and confidence have been ingrained in my mind.
"The struggle is real," she would say.
"On your photo shoot you must shine, and you will shine."
"Be unique and different, and that means being you because there is only one you."
"Don't let fear run your business."
"Give yourself grace" and "own it."
"I am enough."
As I had hoped for the cast of Nip/Tuck, I also hope for all the wonderful people of this wedding boot-camp experience (Jasmine, the producers, the crew and all of the photographers tuning in online and those present in the studio): I hope our paths meet again sometime, somewhere (even if it is only online). This is the countdown to the start of something new. Thank you Jasmine Star. In just 30 days, you made me feel a million times better!
As J* always says, STAY FABULOUS!
