There's something magical about Lake Michigan. And on this particular evening, that magic unfolded beautifully during Karen and Brian’s couples shoot. It was more than just a photo session, it was a celebration of love, stunning blues, and a surprise twist that none of us will forget.

From the moment Karen and Brian stepped onto the beach, barefoot and smiling, it was clear that this shoot would be special. The sky stretched endlessly above us, a hazy palette of soft, dreamy blues melting into the calm waters of Lake Michigan. Karen and Brian have the kind of connection that makes you smile just watching them. There’s an ease in the way they laugh, the way they hold each other, and how they don't take themselves too seriously, especially when they’re knee-deep in cold lake water, splashing like kids on spring break. They laughed, splashed, and kissed with sandy feet and carefree hearts, fully in the moment.

Then, just as the sun began to dip and we started to wrap things up, the evening took a cinematic turn. The horizon darkened. What at first seemed like a fog bank rolling in from the south, quickly revealed itself to be something far rarer. A dust storm. A haboob. In Illinois. The first of its kind recorded in the state since 1934. The wind swept over the beach with surprising force, lifting sand into the air and whipping it around us. And somehow, it felt like the perfect ending. Wild, surreal, and unforgettable. We gathered our things with disbelief, reading the dust storm warning on our phones as if it were part of a script. We were simply hoping for no rain! For a moment, the world held its breath. It was chaos around us, but in that hour, it felt like time stood still, just for them.

You two made Glencoe Beach feel like the setting of a dream and even mother nature wanted in on it. Here's to more love, more laughter, and hopefully fewer dust storms (or maybe just one more, for the drama).
